Supporting the Dream.
Campaign Victoria is a five-year fundraising effort to benefit the University of Houston-Victoria and the Coastal Bend area.
In September of 2008, the Commission on Expanding Access to Higher Education, made up of community and education leaders, unanimously voted to recommend
that UHV expand to a four-year university. With the support of the community, state Rep. Geanie Morrison and state Sen. Glenn Hegar, Texas Gov. Rick Perry
signed House Bill 1056 in June of 2009. This bill paves the way for UHV to admit freshmen and sophomores in the fall of 2010, pending final approval from the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
To ensure the success of UHV’s expansion, the Commission recommended that $250,000 a year in scholarship funds be raised during the next five years. These
funds will help recruit incoming freshmen and sophomores to UHV from outside the region. Campaign Victoria allows the community to not only support UHV’s
expansion, but also contribute to the success and growth of Coastal Bend area.
